Vitić Dances
The film follows, over the course of 20 years, artist Boris Bakal’s efforts to rehabilitate a residential building in Zagreb—a masterpiece of modernist architecture—by mobilizing the local community of co-owners and residents. The building becomes a metaphor for Croatian and Eastern European society, reflecting its dynamics, antagonisms, controversies, prejudices, and hopes.
A story about the importance and limitations of individual activism for the common good, with a happy ending but an unexpected twist.
The screening is followed by a discussion with director Boris Bakal.
