Toujours semer – The Architecture of Șerban Sturdza

Toujours semer – The Architecture of Șerban Sturdza follows the life and work of one of Romania’s most important contemporary architects, urban planners, and restorers. At 77, Șerban Sturdza remains a bridge-builder — between past and future, between forgotten crafts and contemporary architecture, between local communities and international cultural networks.

Part of the “Vertical Portrait” series, the film explores both his architectural oeuvre and his tireless efforts to preserve Romania’s tangible and intangible heritage. Surrounded by blacksmiths, potters, sculptors, painters, musicians, and fellow architects — and armed with vernacular techniques — he embarks on the restoration of wooden churches, manor houses, castles, and traditional homes, as well as on the revitalization of historic neighborhoods and the creation of artistic and educational residencies in once-forgotten places.
