Someone Lives Here

Having experienced firsthand what it means to have no roof over one’s head, carpenter Khaleel Seivwright began building small, yet well-insulated, shelters for people who spend the winter on the streets of Toronto. Against the backdrop of Canada’s housing crisis, his initiative quickly crossed the city’s borders — drawing both the solidarity of some and the firm opposition of local authorities.

The most decorated films at Hot Docs in 2023, winning the Rogers Audience Choice Award and the Bill Nemtin Award for Best Social Impact. It was also named to TIFF Top Ten 2023, won Best Canadian Documentary at Vancouver International Film Festival 2023 and was nominated for two 2024 CSA’s, including Best Feature Doc.
