Toujours semer \u2013 The Architecture of \u0218erban Sturdza<\/em>\u00a0follows the life and work of one of Romania\u2019s most important contemporary architects, urban planners, and restorers. At 77, \u0218erban Sturdza remains a bridge-builder \u2014 between past and future, between forgotten crafts and contemporary architecture, between local communities and international cultural networks.<\/p>\n

Part of the \u201cVertical Portrait\u201d series, the film explores both his architectural oeuvre and his tireless efforts to preserve Romania\u2019s tangible and intangible heritage. Surrounded by blacksmiths, potters, sculptors, painters, musicians, and fellow architects \u2014 and armed with vernacular techniques \u2014 he embarks on the restoration of wooden churches, manor houses, castles, and traditional homes, as well as on the revitalization of historic neighborhoods and the creation of artistic and educational residencies in once-forgotten places.<\/p>\n
